Every LNDLI Pay rental is backed by the LNDLI Protection fund — up to $1,000 of coverage for owners when a loss goes beyond the security deposit.

What it covers

A backstop beyond the deposit

Damage beyond the deposit

If an item comes back damaged and the repair cost is more than the held security deposit, Protection covers the gap — up to $1,000 per rental.

Theft & non-return

If a renter keeps the item or it never comes back, you can file a claim for the loss after working through the normal return window.

LNDLI Pay rentals

Coverage applies to rentals paid through LNDLI Pay. The reserve is funded from a share of every LNDLI Pay platform fee.

How it works

Filing a claim

Resolve the deposit first

Protection sits on top of the security deposit. Start by inspecting the returned item and, if needed, claiming against the deposit.

File a Protection claim

If your loss is bigger than the deposit, open the completed rental in your profile and file a Protection claim with photos and a description.

We review & reimburse

LNDLI reviews the evidence and reimburses eligible losses from the reserve, up to $1,000 per rental. We may pursue the renter separately.

Good to know

  • Protection applies to LNDLI Pay rentals only. Personal Transactions are settled directly between users and aren't covered.
  • Coverage is up to $1,000 per rental and is meant to cover losses beyond the security deposit.
  • Claims are reviewed individually — file promptly, include clear photos, and document any attempt to resolve it with the renter first.
  • Protection is a discretionary fund provided by LNDLI, not an insurance policy.
