If an item comes back damaged and the repair cost is more than the held security deposit, Protection covers the gap — up to $1,000 per rental.
Theft & non-return
If a renter keeps the item or it never comes back, you can file a claim for the loss after working through the normal return window.

Coverage applies to rentals paid through LNDLI Pay. The reserve is funded from a share of every LNDLI Pay platform fee.

Resolve the deposit first
Protection sits on top of the security deposit. Start by inspecting the returned item and, if needed, claiming against the deposit.
File a Protection claim
If your loss is bigger than the deposit, open the completed rental in your profile and file a Protection claim with photos and a description.
We review & reimburse
LNDLI reviews the evidence and reimburses eligible losses from the reserve, up to $1,000 per rental. We may pursue the renter separately.
Good to know
- Protection applies to LNDLI Pay rentals only. Personal Transactions are settled directly between users and aren't covered.
- Coverage is up to $1,000 per rental and is meant to cover losses beyond the security deposit.
- Claims are reviewed individually — file promptly, include clear photos, and document any attempt to resolve it with the renter first.
- Protection is a discretionary fund provided by LNDLI, not an insurance policy.
