Rental Agreement

What This Agreement Covers

This is the standard rental agreement between a Renter and an Owner on LNDLI. When a booking is confirmed, both parties agree to these terms in addition to LNDLI's Terms of Service.

LNDLI is not a party to this agreement. We provide the platform for Renters and Owners to find each other, communicate, and pay — but the rental itself is a direct agreement between the two of you.

1. The Rental

The Owner agrees to provide the item described in the listing, in the condition described, for the dates booked by the Renter. The Renter agrees to pay the agreed price and to use the item only as intended. The Renter must keep a valid payment card on file, and — where the Owner requires it for the listing — complete identity verification before booking.

2. Pickup & Return

Pickup and return location, time, and method are agreed between the Renter and Owner via LNDLI messaging. Both parties should document the item's condition with timestamped photos at pickup and at return. These photos serve as evidence in case of a dispute.

Returns must occur on or before the booking end date. Late returns may incur additional daily charges at the listed rate plus a late fee, at the Owner's discretion.

3. Care of the Item

The Renter agrees to:

  • Use the item only for its intended purpose
  • Not allow anyone else to use the item without the Owner's prior consent
  • Not modify, alter, or attempt to repair the item
  • Comply with all applicable laws when using the item
  • Return the item in the same condition as received, normal wear and tear excepted

4. Security Deposit, Damage, Loss & Theft

If the item is damaged, lost, or stolen during the rental period, the Renter is financially responsible for repair or replacement cost, up to the fair market value of the item.

Security deposit. If the listing has a refundable deposit and the Renter pays through LNDLI Pay, the Renter authorizes LNDLI to collect and hold that deposit at checkout. After return, it is refunded in full unless the Owner files a damage claim against it within the inspection window.

Reporting & claims. The Owner should document and report any damage or loss promptly after return — for deposit-backed (LNDLI Pay) rentals, by filing a claim with photo evidence during the inspection window; for Personal Transactions, by contacting the Renter and, if needed, LNDLI. The Renter may accept or dispute a deposit claim. Disputes that cannot be resolved between the parties may be submitted to LNDLI for mediation, but LNDLI's involvement does not guarantee any specific outcome.

LNDLI Protection. For eligible LNDLI Pay rentals, an Owner whose verified loss exceeds the held deposit may apply to the LNDLI Protection fund. Protection is discretionary, is not insurance, and does not relieve the Renter of responsibility for a loss they caused.

5. Cancellations

Before the Owner confirms a booking, the Renter may cancel the request. After confirmation, the Renter and Owner should arrange any cancellation directly. For LNDLI Pay bookings, if the Owner declines or cancels before the rental begins, the Renter is refunded in full, including any deposit.

If the Owner cancels a confirmed booking without good cause, the Renter is refunded in full and the Owner may face account penalties.

6. Insurance & Liability

Neither LNDLI nor the Owner provides insurance for the rental. Renters are encouraged to check whether their existing insurance (homeowner's, renter's, auto, or umbrella policy) covers borrowed property and personal liability for incidents during use.

Each party is responsible for their own actions and for any injury or damage caused to third parties during the rental. LNDLI is not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from the rental.

7. Communication

All communication about the rental should occur via LNDLI's messaging system so there is a record. Off-platform communication may still be binding but is harder to verify in disputes.

8. Disputes

If a dispute arises, the parties should first attempt to resolve it directly. If that fails, either party may request LNDLI mediation by emailing support@lndli.com with the booking ID and a description of the issue. LNDLI may review messages, photos, and account history when mediating.

9. Governing Law

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any disputes that cannot be resolved through LNDLI mediation will be subject to the courts of Collin County, Texas.
